Stamp it into the world. Bring it forward. Let it guide you and inspire those looking for something to create themselves. For to be truly creative is to give others the belief to simply begin.
For the past two years
For the past two years, Believers has been our way of reaching deep into the corners of Australia and Aotearoa, meeting such a wide variety of people and groups who too have been unleashing creativity in young people. We've funded civic science labs and analogue film co-ops, First Nations creative workshops and time-travelling duck storybooks, hardware battles and mobile art studios. Each one a reflection of the magic that lives in the chaotic intersections and spaces that defy a neat category or industry.
For the past two years, Believers has brought a new community to the Foundation - fellow philanthropists, groups, organisations, individuals - all people who share our DNA and vision for unleashing creativity in young people.
For the past two years, we’ve received hundreds of requests for funding. A great feat, but with it came its own set of challenges.
The first was applications. Despite a healthy amount of organisations coming forward, questions arose: "do they share the Foundation's mission of unleashing creativity in young people?" and "are we giving to projects part of bigger organisations that already have these resources available?"
The second challenge pointed out a more fundamental question for us: "are we being nimble enough to give out grants when they are needed most?"
So, to continue unleashing creativity in young people, we've decided that things need a bit of a refresh. We need the openness to unearth these future Believers but also the speed and conviction to make this process effective for those we fund.
In 2026, Believers will stay open year-round with two tiers of funding available.
